Grouard Northland School students and staff participated in another land-based learning adventure recently! This time, learning how to snare rabbits and squirrels. The experience began with Local Elder Clarence Cardinal educating staff about the traditional practice. Then Elder Cardinal, with support from staff, taught the students the process of snaring.
In October, staff and students learned how to scale, clean, fillet and make smoked fish. At the last staff meeting, Principal Rachel Staff says the staff worked on weaving the traditional knowledge into the curriculum. Starr added the staff has been working hard to integrate the knowledge in line with the appropriate grade level.
